Columbia, MD, June 10, 2008: - Scantek, Inc., is pleased to announce the availability of the newest product from Norsonic, The Airflow Resistance Measurement System, Type N-1517

 Typical applications are for quality control for sound absorption and for filter production process, and testing in research & development. Various adapters allow differently sized test material to be measured. The results are obtained quickly, with no need for external air hook-up. A large dynamic range allows many different samples tested with no adjustment needed.

The N-1517 system functions on a dynamic principle. An AC motor driven piston produces a linear movement causing an alternating air-flow of frequency 2Hz into a cylindrical tank and through the test material. The pressure difference between the inside & outside of the cylinder are measured by a condenser microphone Nor1226 (12mV/Pa) connected to a sound analyzer using the 2Hz 1/3 octave band on the sound level meter N-140. The flow resistivity is then calculated from the decibel (dB) readings on the meter. The measurement results are also stored in the instrument memory for further use/documentation. The specific airflow-resistance measurement results are directly readable on the 140 display (Pa s/m).
